After spending fifteen wonderful years together, Mike and Laurie chose to exchange vows during an intimate ceremony in Mexico earlier this year. Rather than hosting a traditional wedding immediately afterward, they decided to celebrate with the people who had been part of their journey for so many years.
For that celebration, they selected one of Colorado's most breathtaking venues: Cherokee Ranch & Castle.

Throughout the evening, volunteer docents guided guests through the castle, sharing the fascinating history behind the property, its architecture, and its remarkable collection of artwork and antiques. It transformed the reception into an experience rather than simply a party.
Rethinking the Traditional Wedding Reception
One of our favorite parts of Mike and Laurie's celebration was that they weren't afraid to do things differently.
Rather than a formal plated dinner or buffet, they created an extended cocktail-style reception that allowed guests to move freely throughout the property.
Food stations were positioned around the castle so guests could mingle while sampling different dishes, creating a much more relaxed atmosphere.
One of the evening's highlights was the onsite pizza chef preparing fresh artisan pizzas throughout the reception. Instead of waiting for one scheduled dinner service, guests could enjoy fresh food whenever they were ready.
It was a wonderful reminder that the best weddings don't follow a template. They reflect the personalities of the couple.
Incredible Views Around Every Corner
One of the reasons couples continue choosing Cherokee Ranch & Castle is its incredible scenery.
Whether guests were enjoying cocktails on the terrace, watching the sunset over the Front Range, or exploring the castle grounds, nearly every direction offered another stunning backdrop.
As daylight faded, the property became equally magical beneath the evening sky and glowing string lights.

Guests spent the evening reconnecting, touring the castle, enjoying incredible food, dancing beneath the Colorado sky, and celebrating a couple whose relationship has already stood the test of time.
